Month of Prayer and Giving Day 11- Backwards Thinking

Month of Prayer and Giving Day 11- Backwards Thinking

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 ESV

Ryan King was speaking about not dehumanising refugees by referring to them as though they were a natural disaster (‘deluge’ or ‘flood’) that needs fending off but letting them come, and as they come, loving them like Jesus and calling them to turn from their idols to serve the living and true God. He was put in his place by this statement, “The media promotes mass immigration of Muslims using many of the same emotional arguments you use Ryan. You have it backwards.”

Be it backwards or even backward, Ryan still believes in the power of the gospel, still believes in the sovereignty of God and still believes in the ultimate exaltation of Christ. He, as many will attest, is not afraid.

Later that same day, Ryan was evangelising on Wood Green High Street. While there he met Fatemah, an asylum seeker from Iran. He shared the gospel with her, gave her some literature and an invitation to the church. Three months later, she came. In September of last year, she indicated her desire to become a Christian. On Christmas eve she was baptised. She joins a growing number of people from similar backgrounds and circumstances in membership of the Grace Baptist Church, Wood Green.

Please pray that Ryan will continue to think Biblically and communicate clearly about the key issues of our day. Pray that the Lord will bless the ongoing efforts of the church to evangelise multi-cultural Wood Green. Pray that the Lord will help the numbers of new Christians in the fellowship grow as disciples of Christ.

Please, also, recognise the many ways in which we as Christians in Britain today have the opportunity to share the gospel with the nations on our doorstep. May we step forward in faith rather than shrinking back in fear.

“Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.”
3 John 8 ESV
